Special Education Director Job Posting

Job Summary:

The Special Education Director is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational programs and services for students with disabilities. This leadership position will provide strategic guidance and management of the district's special education programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

o Lead and supervise special education staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff.

o Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including IDEA, ADA, and Section 504.

o Conduct regular training sessions for staff on best practices, legal requirements, and new developments in special education.

o Oversee the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

o Monitor the progress of students with disabilities, ensuring they receive necessary accommodations, modifications, and services.

o Coordinate related services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling as needed.

o Ensure accurate and timely documentation for all special education students, including IEPs, assessments, and progress reports.

Certification:

o Master’s degree in Special Education or Educational Administration.

o Valid Ohio Administrative or Principal License (with endorsement in Special Education preferred).
