SALINEVILLE–The Wellsville boys basketball team staged a fourth-quarter rally to pick up a 71-65 win over Southern in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Tuesday.
The Tigers are now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the EOAC. The Indians are 2-1 overall and in the EOAC.
Wellsville entered the fourth quarter trailing 50-45 before outscoring the Indians 25-15 the rest of the way.
Garrett Scott propelled the Tigers with 19 points and six assists. Darien Suggs added 18 points. Justin Wright notched a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Derrick Suggs finished with 12 points and five steals.
For Southern, Cam Grodhaus led the way with 17 points. Brock Smalley added 12 points and six assists, while Max Hart totaled 9 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
Brady Tolson and Jayce Sloan each grabbed 10 rebounds.
Southern won the two-quarter JV game 23-4. James Burris led the Indians with six points.
Both teams are back in action Friday. Wellsville hosts Columbiana. Southern is at United.
